She will shed light on how girls use popular apps and social networking platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat to communicate with their peers, express themselves, and participate in relational aggression. Dr. Carla will also address how parents, caretakers and girl-serving professionals can better understand and communicate with girls and help them thrive through the pressures and transitions of adolescence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Junior League of Monmouth County (JLMC) is excited to bring Dr. Carla Stokes to Monmouth County. Dr. Carla is a natural fit for the JLMC. We look forward to learning about mentoring and coaching young girls as she presents her workshop to our membership,&#8221; said Kelly Ann Boyer, President of the JLMC. &#8220;Empowering young girls to become confident women is a challenge in today&#8217;s society. The JLMC is looking forward to sharing the expertise of Dr. Carla Stokes with everyone in Monmouth County.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The JLMC invites <b>educators and girl-serving organizations to attend a workshop on<\/b> <b>Wednesday, March 12 from 9:30-11:00am at the JLMC headquarters <\/b>(55 Center St., Rumson, NJ).\u00a0 Dr. Carla will address how educators and youth workers can use hip hop, social media, and popular culture in classroom and community settings to foster media literacy and educate girls about health issues.
