Drawing on her award-winning research, the session examined how popular culture shapes girls&#8217; development while highlighting the potential of hip hop as a culturally relevant framework for education, critical media literacy, and positive youth development.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1889\">Participants explored the influence of media messages on girls&#8217; identity development, body image, relationships, and overall well-being, with particular attention to the sexualization of girls in media and the experiences of Black girls.
