Program Development & Evaluation

Dr. Carla is an internationally recognized expert on health behavior, media literacy, HIV prevention, gender-based violence, adolescent sexual health, and related issues pertaining to the health and empowerment of women, youth and girls. Building on two decades of public health experience and training, she consults across the United States and provides program development and evaluation assistance to youth-serving organizations, nonprofits, educational institutions, and private corporations. Dr. Carla specializes in developing cutting-edge programs for women, youth and girls and is widely recognized as a pioneer in developing effective strategies for incorporating media literacy and popular education in the classroom.

Since 1999, Dr. Carla has provided evaluation services and technical assistance to federally funded community-based organizations addressing the HIV/AIDS and substance abuse treatment and prevention needs of people of color, women, and youth.

Web Design & Development

Dr. Carla has completed extensive training in web design and web development at Emory University, where she earned an Advanced Web Design Certificate. She has experience creating web sites and creating graphics that appeal to women, girls, and teen audiences. She has developed social networking and membership sites for alumni groups, coaching communities, Greek letter organizations, youth, and other groups.

Dr. Carla is knowledgeable about online marketing and branding and has completed coursework in Java Script, PHP/My SQL, Ajax, and FLASH.  She is proficient in numerous web and graphic design software programs and scripting languages including:

  • WordPress
  • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Dreamweaver
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
