JBGCcenDr. Carla will host a viewing party for teen girls and their adult advisors featuring the short documentary “Selfie” by Dove, which explores the topic of beauty with teen girls and their mothers.  After the documentary, she will facilitate a workshop on selfies,  self-esteem, body image and social media.

Dr. Carla will also be the subject matter expert and manage a booth on media influences at the For SMART Girls Only Expo.

About the Keystone Club Program

Now entering its 50th year, Keystone is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier teen leadership program. Keystone Clubs are teen leadership groups within Boys & Girls Clubs that focus on leadership development through community service projects. They are part of a multi-million dollar teen outreach initiative funded by Taco Bell Foundation for Teens. This unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18 to participate in Club and community projects in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service.

SMART Girls is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premiere program that helps girls develop healthy attitudes and lifestyles by addressing health and social issues that are specific to female Club members.
