Carla Stokes, PhD, MPH, prepares the next generation of women leaders to make healthy choices, lead with purpose, and create meaningful change in an increasingly complex digital world.

Dr. Carla earned her PhD and Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan, where she completed a cognate in Social Work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with departmental honors from Spelman College. For more than two decades, Dr. Carla has served schools, organizations, and clients around the globe as an educator, public health researcher, professional speaker, master facilitator, and transformational leadership coach. She specializes in positive youth development, adolescent behavior change, and equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make healthy decisions. An accomplished speaker, Dr. Carla has lectured at Stanford and colleges and universities across the country, as well as spoken to youth, women, educators, youth-serving professionals, and parents at schools, professional conferences, and community-based organizations. Driven by a passion for health equity and empowering girls, Dr. Carla has been educating, mentoring, and speaking to youth since her teen years.

A pioneer in the field of hip hop education and one of the earliest cyber ethnographers studying young people's online lives, Dr. Carla's scholarship helped lay the foundation for what is now recognized as the interdisciplinary field of digital girlhood studies. Her research was well ahead of its time, examining questions about youth, identity, and digital culture long before they became part of the academic mainstream. Dr. Carla's presentations seamlessly blend scholarship, storytelling, and extensive real-world experience to create transformative learning experiences that challenge conventional thinking and inspire thoughtful dialogue.
